Why are we involved in the School?

This project will be engaging with thousands of businesses – from sole traders and small businesses to medium-sized and large organisations. We are passionate about working with our supply chain to ensure that we all share the same commitment to our sustainability priorities. To facilitate this, we encourage our suppliers to ‘learn as we go’, through our partnership with the Supply Chain Sustainability School.

Organisations of all sizes are signing up to the school so they can grow the skills and knowledge of their people, make more informed, sustainable and cost-effective decisions, operate more efficiently and sustainably, and remain competitive in today’s market. The school’s e-learning modules correspond directly to our Projects objectives and targets and through the online training, suppliers will gain a better understanding of the applicability of these targets to their work and our supply chain.

Scope of Works – MTMS Stage 2

Transport for Tomorrow is delivering service improvements on the T4 Illawarra Line, South Coast Line and T8 Airport Line as part of the Transport for New South Wales developed More Trains, More Services (MTMS) program.  

The improvements would deliver greater capacity, reliability and connectivity for customers and are designed to support changes to the use of the stations and stabling yards to better serve the future operation of the T4 Illawarra and South Coast lines. 

The current program of works upgrades rail infrastructure at the following locations. 

• Mortdale Maintenance Centre Upgrade  
• Waterfall Stabling Yard and Platform Extension Project 
• Wollongong Stabling Yard and Platform Extension Project 
• Long New Intercity Fleet Upgrade (Thirroul, Coniston, Bellambi & Kiama) 
• Port Kembla Southern Stabling Yards and Station upgrade 
• Kingsgrove Turnout Removal
• Service Upgrades at Albion Park and Kembla Grange
• Platform Extension and Station Upgrades at Dapto
• Platform Extension at Shellharbour Junction
• Kiama Stabling Yard and Platform Extension
• Turnback Upgrades (North Wollongong, South Wollongong, Thirroul)

Within the MTMS2 South package, TfT will be delivering a Power Upgrades South scope consisting of;

• New Overhead Wiring Structures (7 new portal structures and 5 back guy foundations).
• Replacement of Bridge Screens on the Bridge ST over-bridge
• The introduction of an additional Catenary wire into the existing Overhead Wiring system (1.2 km)
• Earthing and Bonding as required to support the upgrade
• The installation of an “Auxiliary Wire” attached to each mast and running the length of the existing wire run (800m)

Scope of Works – Sydney Metro Enabling Works

Transport for Tomorrow is also delivering Advanced enabling works on the Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport line and Sydney Metro West line as part of the project.

The enabling works at the existing rail stations will facilitate the new proposed Sydney Metro Stations at St Marys, North Strathfield and Westmead. The scope includes Design, Construction and Commissioning of the following works:

• Relocation of existing HV/LV Electrical Supply at St Marys station
• Relocation of Signaling and Communications cables at St Marys station
• Relocation of Lift-Shaft and Stairs at St Marys station
• Construction of new access track at St Marys station
• Relocation of existing Sydney Trains 33kV and 11kV Feeder at Westmead and North Strathfield
• Relocation of Signal and Communications cabling at North Strathfield
• Relocation of Signal and Communications cabling and Optus cabling at Westmead
• Decommissioning of the old route and commissioning of the new route and removal of redundant poles at all three locations.

Sustainability ratings

As part of the TfT’s commitment to sustainability, we will be completing  SDG ratings on our Sydney Metro scopes and sites included in our MTMS2 Power Upgrades South scope. As part of this process, the project has identified high impact suppliers through a multicriteria analysis and is asking a member from each organisation to complete an online training module at the Supply Chain Sustainability School. Each supplier will be notified of this requirement and will be asked to:

1. Log in or sign up for a free membership account with the Supply Chain Sustainability School
2. Complete one of the five training modules below
3. Upload your certificate using the Sydney Metro Enabling Works Certificate Submission Form directly under the training modules below
