About Waterloo Integrated Station Development
The Waterloo Integrated Station Development (ISD) Project Works (John Holland and Mirvac Joint Venture) comprises the construction of the new station infrastructure to support customer movement and experience and the over station development, Waterloo Metro Quarter. The Waterloo ISD is designed to deliver a high-quality metro customer experience by providing safe, seamless interchange, a range of retail services, open spaces, and a range of community amenities.
The Waterloo ISD will provide a positive environmental and social impact through significant environmental initiatives across the precinct, which include Greenstar, NABERS and One Planet Living. These initiatives include tree planting and landscaped areas, bicycle parking for visitors and residents, community facilities including community café, community space and childcare.
Sustainability at Waterloo Integrated Station Development
At John Holland, sustainability is a priority – it is about how we consider our people, the community, our clients, our supply chain, and the environment when running our business. The project strives to push beyond business as usual and maximise sustainability outcomes for the project and the future community.
We have achieved a 6 Star Green Design Rating and we are targeting an ambitious 5 Star Green Star As-built Sydney Metro Rating. This means that we care about the triple bottom line of sustainability – economic, social, and environmental impacts are embedded into our everyday decisions. For the project to reduce energy and water consumption, minimise waste generation, and use more sustainable materials, we need our important supply chain partners with us.
At Waterloo ISD, we are constantly looking for ways to improve our sustainability management system which includes how we manage our supply chain risks. You can find out more in our Sustainability Policy and Sustainable Procurement Policy.
